Section 1: Facilitation and Leadership of MTSS within Unadilla Valley Central School District

Our MTSS Vision

Improving learning and development for all students through proactive, comprehensive, quality instruction and support.

Our MTSS Mission

The mission of Unadilla Valley Central School District is to provide resources and opportunities to be socially responsible and productive members of society.  Unadilla Valley Central School District will provide programs and conditions that maximize learning success so all students meet high-level performance standards.

Our MTSS Guiding Principles

There are five guiding principles around which our Multi-Tiered System of Supports is built.

MTSS is for all students to ensure their growth, regardless of placement, demographics, exceptionalities, etc.

A Multi-Tiered System of Supports is for ALL students the moment they enter the school doors through graduation.

MTSS is anchored in the problem-solving model to provide evidence-based decision-making for each tier.

We approach each tier of instruction through the problem-solving lens. The frequent use and reporting of data will demonstrate that progress is being made and that the rate of progress is consistent with expectations.

Common language is a priority for success.

By developing and using common language and understanding, we can collaborate effectively and instruct and intervene proactively.

Professional development is essential for teachers and leadership teams.

Ongoing professional development ensures everyone is aligned and continuously improving.

Families should be informed, clear about their role, and committed to their child’s learning outcomes.

We value our students’ families and encourage their full participation in the problem-solving process. Parents and guardians should be included as essential team members throughout the problem-solving process.

School Improvement and Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) are interwoven elements crucial for fostering positive educational outcomes. The collaboration between school improvement initiatives and MTSS ensures a comprehensive approach to addressing diverse student needs and enhancing overall academic success.

School improvement strategies, professional development, and data-driven decision-making align seamlessly with the tiered interventions of MTSS. By integrating these frameworks, schools can proactively identify areas for growth, implement evidence-based interventions, and continuously assess their impact on student learning.

This holistic approach to school improvement elevates academic achievement. It fosters a supportive and inclusive learning environment where each student's unique needs are met, ultimately contributing to enhancing the educational experience at Unadilla Valley Central School District.
