Some news from Nate Lull on a pair of UV brothers getting to play together in college!

Building houses was a theme at UV this week, in both 3rd grade and our 8th grade Home and Career Skills classes. A whole bunch of marshmallow Peeps received new homes, designed and constructed by the 3rd graders, while our 8th graders built scale model versions of "tiny homes" according to a set of requirements. Lots of great engineers at UV!

Unadilla Valley Secondary School students are pairing with Elementary School students this week to help celebrate New York Agricultural Literacy Week.
Across the state and at UV, students are reading Tomatoes for Neela, by Padma Lakshmi, which takes young readers on an intergenerational journey full of delicious flavors and fun food facts that celebrates a family’s treasured recipes
Secondary Students, under the guidance of student-teacher Hannah Bramer, helped Elementary students plant tomatoes this week as an experiential active learning exercise tied to the book. Great job everyone!

With the use of an Emergency Day for last week’s snowstorm, Unadilla Valley will likely opt to use a Remote Learning Day if our district is faced with another bout of winter weather that makes travel hazardous. UV still has one remaining Emergency Day, however, because our region has been hit in the recent past by weather events in Spring that include power outages, we are conserving that Emergency Day in case it is needed. Widespread power outages make remote learning and remote work difficult, if not impossible.
On this first full day of Spring, we hope the winter weather may soon be over. If it isn’t, we want to make sure our families are prepared and know what to expect. Specific details regarding the Remote Day Plan will be shared on the website and via email on Remote Learning Days if they need to be taken.

UVCSD is on a two-hour delay today, March 15th.
