Two students stand in front of I love NY sign

Two UV FFA officers recently got to experience the power corridors of Albany.

State Leaders’ Experience is intended for elite student leaders interested in learning more about advocacy and how they can still have an impact on agriculture, agricultural education and FFA. Action packed with an overnight a quick walk from the Capitol building, FFA members participating in the State Leaders’ Experience connected with legislators, agricultural leaders and top FFA members from across the state!

As an elite experience, all participants must be nominated by their FFA advisor in order to be selected for attendance.

New York FFA offers our members leadership training and development throughout their time in FFA. State Leaders Experience (SLE) is the capstone leadership experience for New York FFA members. It provides experiences that help attendees learn how to apply leadership skills to real-life situations. This one-day intensive conference focuses on FFA members engaging directly with their local lawmakers to learn about the legislative process, the issues facing our industry, developing a message and telling their stories.

Unadilla Valley FFA’s representatives were Emily DeFrank, high school secretary and Elizabeth Crawford, middle school president. Emily and Elizabeth had the opportunity to meet with Assemblymember Brian Maher, Assemblymember, Joseph Angelino, Senator Joseph Griffo, and Senator Peter Oberaker to share their story and celebrate our successes at Unadilla Valley.
