An anti-bullying, pro-student empowerment team landed at Unadilla Valley CSD on Monday, Feb. 5.

Sweethearts & Heroes held inspirational and informational assemblies for students in grades kindergarten through 12. They are slated to continue their work in smaller group settings tomorrow.

The Sweethearts & Heroes team is: Tom Murphy, a former MMA fighter from St. Albans, Vt., and Rick Yarosh, a retired U.S. Army sergeant, HOPE expert and motivational speaker from Windsor, NY who was burned severely while serving in Iraq.

HOPE - Hold On, Possibilities Exist - was one of the many motivational messages shared by Murphy and Yarosh. A key focus of their presentation was the power we can all harness to stop bullying.

For more than 15 years, Sweethearts & Heroes has presented what Murphy calls “‘the ‘stop, drop and roll’ of bullying” to more than 2 million students in school districts from New England to Hawaii. Murphy and Yarosh also tailor their presentations and workshops for businesses, non-profits and civic groups.
