School Messenger will be expanded to include text messages

Unadilla Valley CSD will soon be expanding it’s School Messenger mass notification service to include text messaging to those who have an SMS text-capable device number on record with the school.

Currently, the district uses School Messenger to send automated calls and emails. The text messaging feature will become available late next week. This feature is “opt-in,” meaning you have to send a text message to the system to activate it.

If you have an SMS text-capable device number on record with the district, you may sign up for text messages now by simply texting “Y” or “yes” to the number “67587.”

If we have an SMS text phone number for you on file AND you have not already opted-in, you will receive a text from “67587” at 6 p.m.,Thursday, Sept. 16. That text will prompt you to reply “Y” to confirm that you wish to receive text messages from the district.

We understand that cell coverage throughout our district can be spotty or non-existent in some places. That’s why we will continue to use the landlines, cell phone numbers and email addresses that we have on file for you to send important calls and emails.
