The Unadilla Valley CSD community sprang into action to help their own as Project Santa came to a successful close just before the holiday break.
This year, Project Santa helped 54 families – who have 141 children - to have a brighter Christmas.
“Our annual food drive helped to filled the holiday baskets with cereal, pasta, soups, canned vegetables, canned fruits, peanut butter and other nonperishable foods,” said organizer, Lorraine Ruffino. “We held a turkey raffle and a ham raffle to raise money to purchase hams for the holiday baskets. Staff and area businesses have sponsored children or donated money to purchase gifts or needed items to fill our food baskets.”
Supporters of Project Santa included the Norwich Price Chopper, Oneonta Price Chopper, Norwich Walmart, Oneonta Walmart, Chobani, Ms. Liz’s Daycare, NYCM in Edmeston, NYCM in Sherburne, Preferred Mutual, Golden Artists Colors, Stewart’s Shops, Service Pharmacy, Hannaford’s Markets, McLaughlins in Norwich and the New Berlin Fire Department.
Families came to the school on Wednesday, Dec. 19 to pick up their baskets and gifts.
Thank you to all who helped!
