Budget work nears end; district to meet tax levy limit, or cap
Unadilla Valley Central School District administrators and the Board of Education are fine-tuning the 2018-19 budget proposal.

The budget vote this year is set for Tuesday, May 15. The board is slated to adopt the proposed budget on Tuesday, April 17 at a regular meeting that starts at 6 p.m. in the library.  The annual budget hearing is set for Monday, May 7.

Although details are still being worked out on the proposed budget, the tax levy for the entire district will be $4,314,504 which is an increase of $63,761 – or 1.5 percent – over the current year. This tax levy increase meets the district’s tax levy limit, or tax cap, as set by a multi-part state-mandated formula.

In addition to the budget vote on May 15, voters will also fill two seats on the school board and weigh in on a bus lease proposition. Polls will be open from noon to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 15 in the district office lobby at 4238 State Highway 8, in New Berlin.

More information on the proposed budget will be released as it becomes available.
