Lockdown lifted at UV as district investigates alleged threat
Unadilla Valley CSD went into a lockdown late Tuesday morning as the result of an alleged threat reported in another school district.

Otselic Valley CSD went on a lockout after two students reported an audio recording of a threatened act of violence against a school allegedly made by a Unadilla Valley CSD student.

It’s not clear at this time what school was specifically threatened, however all UV students and staff are safe.

After receiving information related to the alleged threat, Unadilla Valley CSD went into lockdown at 11:16 a.m. Chenango sheriff’s deputies responded within a few minutes.

The student who made the alleged threat was located and a search of that student’s locker revealed no weapons or contraband. The student is being interviewed by deputies and the lockdown was lifted at 11:43 a.m.

The district continues to investigate the incident in conjunction with law enforcement. Student safety is a primary concern and whenever there is a threat, the district will initiate its emergency response plan. District counseling staff members are available if any students or staff wish to speak with someone about this, or any other incident related to school safety. We encourage students to talk with an adult immediately if they are upset or afraid and especially if they see or hear of something bad happening.
