8th and 9th grade students to take PSATs
Students in eighth and ninth grade will be taking the PSAT 8/9 in March. We are excited to offer this opportunity as the PSAT 8/9 provides an ideal occasion for students to:

• Practice learned techniques and skills while exposing students to the type of testing experienced throughout high school.
• Become familiar with exam format, duration and rigor.
• Prepare for high school and college level courses in addition to ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) SAT/ACT (Scholastic Assessment Test/American College Testing) testing and employer required entrance tests.

The PSAT 8/9 will create a baseline used by the Early College High School Program to determine growth through each student’s high school career and how, in part, UV can better select and organize programming to fulfill all student need/s.

The PSAT 8/9 will be administered to the eighth grade class on Wednesday, March 6, in the morning.
The PSAT 8/9 will be administered to the ninth grade class on Wednesday, March 13, in the morning.

Please help prepare your child for testing:
• Please make sure that your child arrives at school on time. This is always best practice, but it becomes even more important on testing day.
• Please be sure your child is well rested. Going to bed early and having a healthy breakfast before the test will help your child be at his or her best.
• Encourage your child to do his or her best on the exam. When children are worried, they have more difficulty showing what each knows and can do.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact the UV Secondary Office at 607-847-7500 to reach Ms. Wick, Director of the ECHO Program at extension 1112 or Mr. Taylor, Secondary Principal at extension 1000.
