UV Elementary Decks the Halls

Students and staff at Unadilla Valley Elementary School are decking the halls with holiday cheer.
“Last year we did the Polar Express. This year we decided to do a North Pole theme,” said teacher aide Kristine Lorimer.
Each grade in the elementary is doing a different hallway display. They include penguins, reindeer, a Christmas tree, gingerbread men, elves, Whoville and Peanuts, including Snoopy and Woodstock.
“It’s to make it look festive,” Lorimer said.
One of the displays was created by Lorimer herself. It’s a giant mail box where students can send letters to Santa Clause.
Decorating the elementary hallway at various times each school year is a tradition at Unadilla Valley and one that engages many staff and students.
On Thursday, kindergarten students Nick Crandall and Brenya Post-Vandyke, accompanied by Lormier, helped inaugurate the mailbox by depositing a letter.
Santa is expected to visit the Elementary School during morning program before classes break for the holidays.
