First Week at Unadilla Valley features positivity, warm greetings and Common Core learning
The heat outside might have resembled summer, but the learning going on during the first week of school at Unadilla Valley was more reminiscent of fall.

Some teachers around the school began teaching Common Core-related lessons during the first day on Wednesday, Sept. 3, while others took opportunities to introduce new students and prepare for the new year.

“I’m looking forward to our renewed sense of excitement and positive energy,” said Superintendent Robert Mackey. “Our challenge for this year is to sustain that and keep it going.”

The day before classes began, elementary school Principal Chris Harper sent a letter to staff praising them for their hard work during the summer and reminding them about how the community and school are one in the same.

“I personally would like to thank all of you for all that you do for our students and families. I feel it in the halls, in the cafeteria, in the library and in every room of our building,” he said.

“As our Unadilla Valley pledge states; ‘we always give our best to our community, our families, our peers and ourselves.”
