Red Ribbon Week is Coming Up!

Red Ribbon Week is nearly here and students in grades kindergarten through 12 are gearing up to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use and the importance of healthy decision making.

Red Ribbon Week at Unadilla Valley is a collaboration between school counselors, other staff and the UV SADD Chapter between Oct. 24 and Oct. 28.

“Every student and staff member gets a ribbon,” Elementary Counselor Sheri Houck said.

For students, numbers will be printed on the back of each ribbon and winners will be chosen daily for prizes. Students will also receive pencils and other Red Ribbon Week promotional materials.

In addition to wearing ribbons, students are encouraged to dress up for theme days.

Monday – Pajama Day; getting a full night's sleep is a great personal choice! Make healthy decisions!
Tuesday - Tie Dye Day; we are all different in our own, unique ways! Respect each other's differences!
Wednesday - Character Day; show positive character traits by helping others make good choices!
Friday - RED Day; wear red to show your support of making good, healthy decisions and helping others say no to drugs!

Student will also be involved in a variety of activities and winners from each class will have the opportunity to plant red tulip bulbs on our school grounds.

School counselors Sheri Houck, Andy Ruffino, Stephanie Cooke; teachers Lorraine Ruffino and Danette George; the H.S. and M.S. SADD chapter; and Stacy Wilcox of the Liberty Partnership are helping to coordinate the week.

Thank you for being supportive of Red Ribbon Week and teaching our students the importance of taking care of themselves and their bodies!
