UV senior and teacher recognized at scholar banquet
Unadilla Valley Central School District senior Stefan Foster and fifth grade teacher Priscilla Blydenburgh were recognized in early May at a Scholar Recognition Banquet at SUNY Oneonta to honor outstanding students in the DCMO and ONC BOCES area.

Foster was selected for being an “excellent all around student in the classroom” that is well liked by his peers and participates in many extra-curricular activities.

As part of the program, Foster was asked to select a teacher who had a significant and beneficial influence in his education.

He chose Blydenburgh.

He wrote she is: “without a doubt, one of the single most important people that has been in my life and influenced me into becoming the person I am today. She lived through her job, she had passion, and she embraced every student in her class with open arms and a willingness to mentor and guide them. ..”

According to the DCMO BOCES website, the recognition program began as an Otsego County Chamber of Commerce initiative, but has grown to be a program that enhances relationships between the business community, schools, and institutions of higher and continuing education.

The program recognizes outstanding scholastic achievement by a member of the graduating classes of the public, private and parochial secondary schools in the area. Student representatives are chosen on the basis of scholarship, as well as leadership and service to his/her school and community.

Teachers can be from any grade level and any subject area, from kindergarten through grade 12.
