Anti-bullying group brings message to UV on March 17
The anti-bullying group “Sweethearts and Heroes” comes to the Unadilla Valley Central School District on Tuesday, March 17, to present four age-specific assemblies throughout the day in the auditorium. Parents are encouraged to attend.

Team members and mixed martial arts fighters Tom Murphy and Jason Spector will put on an anti-bullying presentation aimed at giving students an important message about tolerance, awareness of bullying, and most importantly, an action plan for when bullying happens. According to the Sweethearts and Heroes website, their collective goal is to help foster a school climate where kids refuse to let bullying happen.

Oxford Academy hosted the presenters earlier this year, and the principal said it was the best program she’s hosted as principal.

“They tailor programs to every level and connected so well with the kids. I can honestly see them working with all grade levels. I have brought someone in the past nine years and this was incredible,” she said.

The assembly times are as follows:
  • Grades PreK-2: 8:30-9 a.m.
  • Grades 3-5: 9:30-10:15 a.m.
  • Grades 6-8: 10:30-11:45 a.m.
  • Grades 9-12: 1:15-2:30 p.m.
Additionally, the presenters will meet with the “UV Heroes” middle and high School students to enhance their efforts in school.
