Future Path Project Warms the Heart

Students in Mrs. Hayes and Mrs. Ramirez’s Future Path groups completed a community service project that goes beyond providing children with warm blankets and scarves, it warms the heart.

Teacher Aide Mrs. Hayes is also a foster parent in Chenango County and has cared for a number of children over the years.
“As a foster parent, this group of children is near and dear to my heart. So as a community service project for this year, we decided to make blankets and scarves for them to make the transition a little easier,” Hayes said.

Students were excited to help by making the warm fuzzy blankets and scarves in hopes of providing those children who are going through a traumatic experience with a blanket to calm and comfort them.

As part of the project, students learned about Child Protective Services, their role and what they do. They also learned about how the foster care system works to support children in need in our community. Students presented Misty Davis, Supervisor with Chenango County Department of Social Services with the blankets and scarves to be delivered to children in the community who are currently placed in foster care.
