Plans for School Safety Night set
The following is a letter that was sent home to parents/guardians from the superintendent.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

We concluded our first round of listening sessions with students in grades 6 through 12 on Tuesday, February 27. They had excellent questions as to how they can help keep kids in school safe and how they should respond in school when there is an emergency.

We also did a backpack search and had police presence on school property. These steps are all being taken in order for students, staff, and community to feel the school is safe.

In our continuing efforts to engage all community stakeholders in school safety, we are holding our first School Safety Night on Thursday, March 8 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria. We have also invited various law enforcement agencies to participate in our School Safety Night.

We encourage parents, guardians, and adult community members to attend. There will be opportunities to experience some aspects of how our safety committee and school staff work every single day to keep our school safe. This event is for parents, guardians, and adult community members to attend. There will be a supervised room for childcare during the meeting and snacks will be provided. Your continued support is vital as we work to help students learn the very important role they play in keeping our school and community safe.

If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Sharon White in the district office at 847-7500, ext. 1134 by Tuesday, March 6. We look forward to working together with parents, guardians, and community members to further ensure the safety of our school.

Sincerely,
Robert J. Mackey, Superintendent
