The Unadilla Valley Middle School Heroes is a program designed to create a school environment where every individual is celebrated and everyone feels safe.

It was created by the Middle School staff and encompasses assemblies, classroom based lessons and school wide activities and contests. It is intended to ignite an effort to create and maintain a proud community of Middle School students.

1. Speak to your child. Let them know you are supporting them and this issue will not be ignored.

2. Keep a record of all incidents. This can be as simple as writing down who was involved, what happened and where it took place. If it is cyberbullying, keep all messages or postings. As hurtful as it may be, a record is needed to effectively deal with any incident.

At Unadilla Valley Middle School we teach our students to accentuate the positives. We wanted our program to recognize and celebrate the heroes in our halls as opposed to designating bully-free zones.

Bully-free zones imply areas where there are bullies. We are striving to create a community of learners who do not tolerate bullying anywhere. We hope you will join us in celebrating the heroes we have in our Middle School who make an effort to lift everyone up.
